Palmer Pulse or Ride DH?

I am buying a new board but I am still undecided. I like to do big air tricks. I am not so much into rails. I am going to Whistler in March and I want to buy a new board before then. I was looking at a Palmer Pulse and a Ride DH. Any suggestions on boots would also be appreciated. THANKS

Palmer Pulse or Ride DH?
I'd go with the Ride DH, the brand Ride makes their boards better than Palmer and will last longer
Reply:Ride is made in China, Palmer is made in Austria. I own a Pulse and do not buy it if your looking for a true park boards, its a little stiff! Report It

Help with picking up a new board-intermediate all mnt/freestyle :))))?

I've been riding a burton feather 143 (2006 model) for the last two years and I think it's right for me in terms of lenght/flex-I'm 5.3tall and weigh about 114, quite athletic. I learned some basic tricks like 180s and 5-0. however I'd like to get more into tricks, while still be able to ride the whole mountain on one board (not too expensive). Im looking at:

burton lux

rome vinyl

forum star

in the 142-144 range; Will ride it with burton emerald boots and stilleto bindings. please help me choose :))) any other suggestions are welcome

Help with picking up a new board-intermediate all mnt/freestyle :))))?
Stick with your feather YO!!! ITs a sick deck, you dont need a new deck, IM sure if your just starting to learn tricks that your probally just unlocking the true potential of your snowboard. Spend your money on some NEW fresh gear. Dont buy a new deck you dont need it. Trust me I fight with myself all the time about this, I have a burton custom from 2003 and Its so frickin beat. ( as far as cosmetics) But it still has pop and is just as buttery as a jib deck like the rome artifact or k2 www.. I always see these kids with the flashy new decks and think , wow i need a new deck, but then i just remember that the deck I have is still SICK and perform so good and im so used to it and in tune with it, I cannot part with my custom. This is just my opinion... If I were a chick and I was getting a new snowboard. Id get a k2, they have some MADDD nice chick decks, and there chick team is rediculous.
Reply:From those three I would suggest the Rome Vinyl. Rome makes some great boards. I don't know anyone who rides the Vinyl, but I know guys that ride the Agent, Slash, and Machine. These boards are very "freestyle" oriented, but also do fine on groomed trails.

You might also consider Sapient - I know girls that ride both the Stardust and Seduction - they are very happy with these boards.
Reply:Keep your board and save your money until you grow out of that board or you tear it to shreds. That board will be fine for what you are thinking of doing. When you are in need of a new board check out Burton and K2 because in my opinion they make the best girl boards. Until then, happy shredding and keep progressing.

Chuck Palumbo?

Finally some talent, he was a tag team champ wit billy gun, and was in the F.B.I. I hope we can see more of him, and u cant say he stole the undertaker gimmick cause well, he builds it, so he can ride it. Running Boot and Swinging Side Slam as finishers so far. Maybe something new will come up. But we might see this guy in mid main events or main events. Either way it would be cool to see him hold a championship of his own. So what do you think could come from him?? Will he be lik a chris masters and last two years wit out holding a championship? Or will he be on top??

Chuck Palumbo?
I thought Palumbo looked good but he lacks charisma so he will rise right to the middle and fizzle out. Maybe a US title push but he will never win it. If they get him a decent partner I could see him being tag champ again.
Reply:He Could be the U.S. Champion in the future
Reply:Someones gonna have to step up now. Either a tag team or someone of a Loner type. Things will be getting more interesting as time moves on. And someone needs to chop down that dude from India.
Reply:i think we have to wait and see were palumbo will be i mean it was his first match back. so we have to wait and see what are in the future for him.
Reply:I think he will be one of SD dominate superstars!
Reply:He is a good wrestler, and it's good to see him back.
Reply:I think he can rise to the top, if they let him, which I doubt.

Equitector Field Master Jodphur Boot??

hiya, I was just wondering if anyone has tried these boots? they promise to stop the foot slipping problem? my o/h is currently learning to ride, he has a pair of joddy boots already, but he wants to know if these live up to their promises, ?? he is currently spending around 10minutes a lesson 'finding' his stirrups and getting his feet back to normal...? also does anyone know if riding schools (uk) do 'bareback' lessons anymore? (i'm thinking that would help his balance a lot!!)

so.. any reviews on these boots would be really helpful,

thanks.

Equitector Field Master Jodphur Boot??
You don't say how long he has been learning for. If it's not been long, maybe he just needs a few more lessons. At this stage I wouldn't be recommending anyone to lay out loads of money on pricey boots just to achieve something that will come with practice. I think you might find that riding schools would be reluctant to let anyone ride bareback these days because of insurance issues. However, I do appreciate that it just MIGHT be a man thing - when mine takes up anything new he wants to be an expert overnight and have all the best gear! Can you persuade him to be patient with himself?

EquiTECTor boots are for proTECTing your toes if you get stood on, by the way, They are popular but as a way of keeping your feet intact. As far as riding is concerned, the boots are only as good as the rider wearing them.

Hi, Izo, nice response, thank you. You fill in a few more details this time!

While it's still true what I said about the boots, I might have made a few more helpful suggestions if I'd known about your partner's situation. I used to help with my local R.D.A. group, they will have specialist equipment like ladder reins (and also specially selected horses). Do you have a group near you? I used to teach disabled adults sometimes and we all had great fun - NOT tame at all, in fact they were braver than I am.

I totally agree with you that lungeing would be helpful, even just at a walk to begin with. I hope you can find someone who's willing to help you in that respect. If you're interested in finding an R.D.A. group, the B.H.S. website would be a good place to start. I'll keep checking out this page to see how you get on. Good luck. xxx
Reply:How are the treads on the bottom of his current boots? If they seem ok, how are the tread pads in the stirrups? If these are ok, he probably needs to grip more with his legs, and I would reccommend investing in some half chaps before som new jods.

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the quality of that boot because I don't believe they are readily available in the U.S.
Reply:tell him to grip more with his legs i don't think its the boots
Reply:Izo I think that the reason your o/h is loosing his stirrups is BEcause he is gripping up. See if he can let the full length and weight of his leg fall into his heels not the ball of the foot. It acts like a piece of elastic taking up the slack.(You do want to have a boot on that can grip the stirrup and not let it slip out. Don't know bout those ones sorry) Let him walk sitting on the horse and feel where the natural movement causes his leg to move up and down a little as the horses back sinks a little at each stride as his legs move forward. When riding I think that you should think of the weight of the person on top being centred somewhere under the back of the horse. (Not sure where exactly) If it is centred on top of his back like a big ball the tendency is to slip around and the person has to grip up. Then as his legs come up as they grip the saddle the irons are left dangling. Try some exercises like lifting his knees right up and out siting with only his bum in the saddle. This helps you to find the point of balance. Then when he lets his legs hang down again he is sitting deeper and his legs longer in the stirrups. Tell him to think of his legs hanging right down to the ground and feel his weight fall into them. HUH!sounds easy It's not but I hope it helps xxx

** Have you tried inserting a pair of those tread things into the bottom of your stirrups. You get them in black or white. I think you do have to be confident that your foot wont slip out when you allow your heel to take the weight.

Best boot polish?

A week ago I was riding in a lesson and my tall boots got quite muddy because of the many puddles. I have procrastinated on cleaning them (which was a bad idea). Today (4 days later) I saw them in their horrible state and decided I must clean them. I sprayed the globs off with a soft stream of water, but no matter how long I try to wash the specks off ( with water) , they just wont come off. They're not particles that you can feel by going over the boots, but specks that the dirt and mud left behind. Today I am going to a horse fair, and they surely have boot polish there. What is the best method of getting rid of these specks and will my boots ever shine like they did before? What is the best polish? and how muc will it cost? (it might be a bit more expensive at the fair) Thank you very much.

PS. I tried using regular boot polish, but it didn't make my boots shine like they use to. It only made them a dull black.

Best boot polish?
I would try cleaning them with vogel leather conditioner http://www.vogelboots.com/product_detail... first and then applying polish. I like to use the shoe polish that comes in the tin b/c it gets a better shine, but you can use the cream kind that comes in a jar too.

The trick is in the way you apply it.

First, you want to apply a really generous amount of polish using an aplicator brush http://www.123tack.com/winning/product.a... (don't put any polish on the inside of the calf b/c it will make your saddle gunky) Wait a few minuets to let the polish dry a bit and then buff the boots with a polish brush. http://www.123tack.com/winning/product.a... The last step is to buff them with a cloth (gives you the super shiney mirror finish) Also, it's a lot easier to polish your boots when you are wearing them.

NEVER EVER use one of those quick shine sponge things (they are bad for the leather) and only use glycerin soap on the inner calf b/c it will ruin the boots color.
Reply:I have the same boots. For getting spots out I highly recommend Leather New. It's a glycerine soap spray (so it basically the spray on version of those orange saddle soap bars) and it cleans very well. I use it in conjunction with a regular boot polish to make my look shiny and new!

For the shine issue: they sell these foam-like blocks to buff your boots with, they work very well. I don't know why cfazio thinks they're bad for leather (which they are made specifically for), but my coach buys them and uses them on everyone's boots as we enter the ring and she knows what she's doing.
Reply:Regular Dubbin will do the job. Failing that, then try normal glycerine saddle soap.

Saddle Help?

I gave a light colored english saddle. I wore my field boots when i rode in it, and now there are big black marks on both sides of my saddle. My saddle is really expensive. Does anyone know how to get the black marks off, or at least some of it. Are there any particular products? Please help!!!

Saddle Help?
saddle soap will help and possibly get it all or you can go to the automotive section and get products for leather seats and use it. If worse comes to worse you can go to a tack store and tell them they have products that cost a tad more but work. Also a damp washclothe and rub in a circular motion can help. My daughter did this with her saddle and after she had to spend two days getting it clean she always remembers to wear the right boots now.
Reply:leather new and leather CPR are both really good!
Reply:Do NOT use fingernail polish remover. It will dry out the saddle and eventually cause it to crack, especially if you have to clean these black marks off numerous times.

Like everyone else has said, use saddle soap and a soft cloth and just work on those scuff marks. Saddle soap is made for the expensive leather made in saddles and is very mild, yet it will do the trick. Good luck!
Reply:try using finger nail polish remover that what i use to get any scuffs off my saddle.
Reply:I have no idea.

Nice name!
Reply:Saddle soap is very mild. It is a bit hard to get out of the tooling (designs) and stitching on a western saddle but an English one should be easy to remove it from if you avoid any stitched areas.
Reply:Try some saddle soap available at a saddlery shop or feed store might have it as well.
Reply:Go to a tractor supply store .com and look for one near thean go to one they will have somthing.

DO NOT USE FINGERNAIL POLISH REMOVER IF THE SADDLE IS ALOT OF MONEY.

After you go back and get the iron boots, and you ride back to the town where you find the kinds, and one of them gets kidnapped and then the "orcs" take them and you eventually have to go one on one with the main one, and i cant dodge, and slice the guy. How do you do it? plz answer!!!

Zelda twilight princess!!! NEED HELP!!!!SECOND KIDNAPPING!!!!!?
stick to one side of the bridge or the other then shortly before you're gourged by the pig, dash, head towards the other side of the bridge and swing! about 2-3 times and he's gone.
Reply:well you need to press up down left left right up down

and then you can dodge and slice
Reply:What I do is I ride the right side of the bridge, whoop Epona three or four times, and a bit before I collide, swing out to the left and slice at the orc. A spin attack may serve you well here, as well.

How do I get my saddle cleaned.?
If you go to a store that has horse stuff Im sure they would have something that would work for you. Saddle soap is best seeing as its made for saddle cleaning. I think you suppost to clean your saddle like ever other week or something depending on how much you use it. I know mine gets really dirt the more it sits. I also use lindseed oil to water proof it and keep the leather soft.
Reply:SADDLE SOAP.THATs what i used 4 my leather shoes.
Reply:yeah saddle soap works pretty well, just scrub it down with it pretty well, but test it on the inside where it doesnt show, just make sure it doesnt do anything harmful to the saddle, if you paid alot for it lol,, just keep an eye on it as you use the saddle soap lol good luck with it
Reply:do it yourself or take it to a saddle shop to do it yourself get a paper towell and leather cleaner and start scrubbing
Reply:Go to a tractor supply store or a tack store they will have some stuff.

What snowboard would you recommend?

I'm 6'2" and 190 lbs with a size 11 boot. I started riding last season with a Oxygen Quantum 163 I picked up off of craigslist but am looking to upgrade. I spend an equal amount of time freeriding and in the park. I'd like a board that is stiff enough for freeriding but flexible enough for jibbing, kickers etc. Any recommendations?

What snowboard would you recommend?
A Burton Custom X Wide would be perfect for you. It's an all around good board. It has a nice flex and your feet would fit on the board very well because the board is a wide and it's made for especially big feet. The Burton Royale would also be another nice board because it has a nice flex to it made specifically for freestyle. One of my friend's owns it and says he uses it for free riding just as much and he loves it.

Good luck on your board search! I'm partial to Burton because of their quality and customer service but I've attached the link below if you're interested in other brands
Reply:burton custom.
Reply:burton is best! i have one and it is flexable but no too flexable!
Reply:I totally agree on the Burton Royale-it's wide plus the 2008 model has really cool detailed graphics :D I'd also suggest the Rome Agent, maibe 158 or 160-it is a solid all mtn board that's also good for tricks. good luck

What is this song?

What is this song?
what about Big %26amp; Rich - Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboys

Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)"

[Intro]

DUM-DE-DE-DUM, DE-DE-DUM-DE-DE-DUM, DE-DAA-DAAAAA

DUM-DE-DE-DUM, DE-DE-DUM-DE-DE-DUM, DE-DAA-DAA-DAA-DAA-DAAAA!

Well, I walk into the room

Passing out hundred dollar bills

And it kills and it thrills like the horns on my Silverado grill

And I buy the bar a double round of crown

And everybody's getting down

An' this town ain't never gonna be the same.

[Chorus:]

Cause I saddle up my horse

and I ride into the city

I make a lot of noise

Cause the girls

They are so pretty

Riding up and down Broadway

on my old stud Leroy

And the girls say

Save a horse, ride a cowboy.

Everybody says

Save a horse, Ride a cowboy

Well I don't give a dang about nothing

I'm singing and Bling-Blinging

While the girls are drinking

Long necks down!

And I wouldn't trade ol' Leroy

or my Chevrolet for your Escalade

Or your freak parade

I'm the only John Wayne left in this town

And I saddle up my horse

and I ride into the city

I make a lot of noise

Cause the girls

They are so pretty

Riding up and down Broadway

on my old stud Leroy

And the girls say

Save a horse, ride a cowboy.

Everybody says

Save a horse, Ride a cowboy

[Spoken:]

I'm a thourough-bred

that's what she said

in the back of my truck bed

As I was gettin' buzzed on suds

Out on some back country road.

We where flying high

Fine as wine, having ourselves a big and rich time

And I was going, just about as far as she'd let me go.

But her evaluation

of my cowboy reputation

Had me begging for salvation

all night long

So I took her out giggin frogs

Introduced her to my old bird dog

And sang her every Wilie Nelson song I could think of

And we made love

And I saddled up my horse

and I ride into the city

I make a lot of noise

Cause the girls

They are so pretty

Riding up and down Broadway

on my old stud Leroy

And the girls say

Save a horse, ride a cowboy.

Everybody says

Save a horse, Ride a cowboy

What? What?

Everybody says

Save a Horse Ride a cowboy.

Can women get men's snowboard gear?

I'm 17 and looking for a new snowboard, bindings, and boots. Will everything ride the same or should I stick to women's gear?

Can women get men's snowboard gear?
Actually I would stick to women's stuff, because gear is getting more gender specific these days. Boots are definitely something to get in women's. The men's boots are cut higher, because we have calves higher on are legs. The woman's calf extends farther down her leg, so the boots aren't as tall. As far as bindings it doesn't really matter, just what fits the boots you get. The board is definatly tricky. You have to look at each companys specifics. It mostly goes by height and weight. The problem you will encounter when getting a men's board, is that we have larger feet that women, so the board may be too wide for you. Good luck, and hope you get a sick set-up.
Reply:You can buy men's gear. The main difference is the graphics/color on the board, but girl boards do tend to have more flex (less stiff) than a men's board for the same size. That said, there are men's boards (park and job boards) with even more flex than a standard women's board (all terrain). About boots, women typically have narrower feet for the same length of foot than a man. So women's boots are different. Also, a woman's calf has a different shape than a man's so the boot height is usually different for the same sized foot. Bindings are pretty much the same - just different color. Have fun picking your new equipment!
Reply:It is best if you stick to Women's gear, but you should be ok with guy's stuff. In the past, there weren't any womens stuff and they were fine in mens, they basically just take the men's version and make it lighter, softer, etc. The difference in boards is mainly the flex, but also the width of the board. They are narrower, which fit women's smaller feet.

As for bindings, They are usually the same as the guy's for

cheaper, in smaller sizes, and Burton now has canted highbacks, in which the back of the bindings follow the shape of your leg, instead of straight up, for comfort.

Women's boots and bindings are usually shorter and designed for more comfort, while boards come in smaller sizes so you have a wider range of choice instead of only looking at the lower end of men's sizes.

But other than that, if you are able to fit in the men's equiptment Comfortably, then go for it!
Reply:well it is diffenent as far as relative height weight and lengths but if you dont care i dont think anyone else will
Reply:Boots - you'll want to get women's boots. Womens feet and calves are shaped quite differently from mens and the boot will fit better and give you a better ride if you get one for you rather than for a guy.

Bindings - not a huge deal which gender you get them labelled for. I'm a girl and I use Drake GT and they work just fine for me.

Board - the main differences between a "girls" board and a "guys" board are the width and the flex. Guys boards are wider since guys generally have bigger feet and that will effect your turning. Guys boards are generally stiffer than boards labelled girls.

That being said, there are tons of softer non-girls boards out there and it's definitely possible to ride one of those, no problem. When I went to buy my board this season I asked the guys at the board shop which guys boards were softer and would be softer and more unisex and ridable for me/a girl. There were a few boards - Gnu, Forum, Lib Tech - that would have worked out fine for me.
Reply:The only difference between men's and woman's skis and snowboards if the color/pattern they have on.
Reply:the shoe size would be off

High School Rodeo stuff?

I'm going to start some showing in high school rodeo (20x) this summer. But right now I'm learning to rope and tie goats. (I already barrel race and pole bend.)

Where is a good place to buy any roping supplies I will need for my horse, a rope, piggin string, etc.

(Right now I ride in a barrel saddle with good quality saddle pad, breast collar, barrel racing bit, bridle and roping/gaming reins - plus splint and bell boots - I will ride in a flank cinch when I find one that fits my chubby horse.) =]

I have an instructor with experience in the events, so if you have any other advice please add it!

Smith Brothers. They do have a website and catalog. They have the best roping supplies I've seen. You can also try ebay.

these are just a few you could ask a trainer around your area what store they use or someone that is already in the sport that you are going into
Reply:Find a good used roping saddle ladies style tho. The horn on your barrel saddle could snap should you chose to do soemthing heavier than goat tying. You wnat a ladies style b/c they are narrower across the seat than men's and don't hurt your hips as much. You could find a good combo saddle that has that narrow seat and sturdy horn but a higher cantle for barrels than a normal roper. My persoanl fav ropes are the money maker by classic. NRSworld.com has soem awesome roping gear and so does Smith Brothers. If you want to ahve a custom ladies ropign saddle doen fairly cheaply call reinsman and ask to speak to Jane Hutto or Dale Martin. Jane is Dale's secretary and he is the orginator of Martin Saddlery that you see in NRS catalogs! I think a custom combo by him was around 900.00 maybe more or less depending on the style and tooling. Stateline tack also as some roping supplies.

Whats the difference!!???

between a field boot and a dress boot for english riding???

Whats the difference!!???
Field boots have laces in the front which makes them easier to get on and off. Dress boots do not have laces and a good dress boot should have stiffer uppers 3/4 of the way around the lower leg (not on the inside of the leg where the boot touches the horses side- this should be softer more flexible leather to offer better feel of the horse). Field boots should offer this as well but should be a little more flexible and not quite as stiff as a dress boot. Dress boots need to be stiffer to offer dressage riders more support and accuracy with the lower leg. Field boot leather should be slightly more flexible (paticularly around the ankle) to allow for more mobility with support when jumping. However, you can ride in field boots for both disciplines and some people ride in dress boots when jumping, usually the reverse. I own field boots that I use for everything.
Reply:field boots you find used in polo more than any where else, they can be identified by the lace above the instep or a zip somewhere. And well dress boots are dont have a lcing or zips tend to be stiffer and require a lot of effort getting on and off,and are favoured by the dressage hacking set.....I hasten to add this is my experience,I am not a dressage rider nor a hack queen
Reply:actually dress boots are boots without any kind of laces. The laces don't have to be only in the front of the boot. i have a pair of Vethium's that are consitered feild boots becuase they have a laced calf section. if your debating about which to get, i suggest field boots as they are often more comfortable and easier to fit. I like the elequence they bring as well. good luck! Lauren- you're thinking of paddock boots, which are usually used for schooling with half chaps or without (depending on age) as they come only up to the ankle.
Reply:a field boot is for riding in the grassy fields and a dress boot is for show or competitions.
Reply:Field boots have a little section of laces in the front, at the ankle area, dress boots don't. They are also not really appropriate for dressage or eventing. I would get dress boots since they will fit in no matter what you choose to do.
Reply:feild boots go to your ankels and dress boots go up to right below your knee. They are are expensive too.

Leg Protection?

I am of the opinion that whenever and where ever you are riding, your horse should have wraps on. (Open front boots or polo wraps, and sometimes bell boots). Obviously in hunter classes this isn't practical or possible, but that is the only time I ever ride without protectioinon my horse. The horses that I ride are all hunter/eq/jumper horses, and they all wear boots whenever they are ridden. What are you alls opinions on this?

Leg Protection?
I went in order:

Polos: The only time when you need to actually use these is when your horse is doing something that requires full lower leg and tendon protection. Having them on your horse keeps them protected because they absorb the energy of the horse landing or doing flatwork which inturn reduces shock to the joints, tendons, and overall bones. There are people on here that say they do NOTHING for jumping, but this is not true, these were the only things that kept my old gelding sound over fences. They are good for extra protection doing anytype of activity however, even trail riding. If you are dedicated to protecting your horses lower legs, I would stick with these.

Open Fronts: These are only effective for jumpers when you want them to feel with their legs when they hit a jump, but still have shock absorbtion when they land. I do not use these unless I am jumping a real big jumper, I do not feel hunters need open fronts because they normally pull their legs high enough anyway to avoid hitting the fence

Bell Boots: Are good when you have a horse who likes to pull their shoes off with their back hoof, or hit the insides or outsides of their front hoof with their back feet. I never use bell boots unless my horse really reaches with his back feet and sometimes pulls his front shoe off, or he keeps hitting his front hooves with his back hoves. I also like to use them if the horse has a quarter crack or softer hooves because it just gives overall protection of the hoof.

In conclusion, for everyday, all types of riding, I would say that you just have to use a polo wrap. These would be your best bet because they give full protection to the leg. Only use the open fronts with a jumper or a horse that likes to hit the rails with his legs to teach him, and use the bell boots if your horse has shoe pulling, hoof hitting, or hoof problems.

I hope that this helps you!
Reply:Actually, there are numerous scientific studies that say polos do not reduce concussion at all. Your best bet to do that would be a sports/medicine boot, which are proven to reduce concussion. Report It

Reply:A good boot to use is brushing boots!

If you ARE jumping you should ALWAYS use either polo wraps of some kind of boot!
Reply:I use polowraps. and im ordering professional choice front boots on the 17th. I also use bell boots, although i dont ride hunter. I think every horse should use protection.

oh i know! Its awful when you see barrel racers that use nothing. ive seen terrible accidents with tendons etc.
Reply:yes, i think that horses ridden in strenuous sports need them. a also think that everyone should use bell boots even if their horse doesn't overreach, just so that you can be assured that you won't have any once in a while accidents. i always make sure my horse is wearing overreach boots when ridden, and always wearing leg boots (smb II) while being worked hard. i don't want to risk anything.
Reply:It depends on what the horse is doing. If it's hacking around the roads, then unless it has an issue like brushing, I wouldn't bother. We never used to wrap steeple chasers legs in Europe because it's so dangerous if one comes loose but they would wear front boots for schooling over fences and that was just to protect the leg from brush and not to support them. Obviously it never hurt them as some were still racing at 12 and 13 years old and then would retire and go hunting.

A lot of the old guys claim too that it makes the legs weaker by always wearing support and the leg should be sufficiently strong enough on it's own to stand up to hard work. We used to wrap only the front legs of polo ponies for schooling, all 4 for games and nothing for exercise. A lot of the problem these days too is the way people have their horses shod which makes them more likely to overreach as the toes as so long behind. I'm from the pre - Professional Choice days and I'm not convinced that boots are that essential especially for every day riding and schooling.
Reply:I can tell you shoes are a necessity for some horses in a lot of places. We live in a place where there are more rocks than dirt. There is no way a horses hoof will stand up to rocks.

Bell boots are sometimes very necessary for horses that over reach, that's when a horses back hooves come down on heel of the front hooves, this can do real damage to a horses heel. A lot of this can be corrected by proper shoeing but this is not something to take a chance on.

Also, any of this stuff can interfere with trail riding when crossing a lot of water.
Reply:i ride everyday with sportmed. boots on her front and back legs.. why risk it.

unless of course im showing, where they arent allowed.
Reply:Well, in the winter when the ground is frozen I use polo wraps because it supports the tendon more...I forget I saw it in someones answer:P Once it gets warmer out, I usually use my open front boots with polos on the back and someitmes bell boots, or if Im working on the flat or on a trail someitmes I will just use polos, but once it is warmer out I only use the boots so she doesn't get too hot.
Reply:So don't nail heavy metal shoes to their feet. That's the sole reason boots and bandages are used - other than in polo where they may whack the legs with the ball and stick.

They don't support the limb and may in fact damage the very structures they're supposed to 'protect'.

Many different cultures depended on horses totally for thousands of year - riding them for vast distances in migration, war, trade - without leg wraps, boots and bandages - or shoes.

The reason that leg wraps are banned in dressage competitions is that it's considered the horse should have correct movement and be balanced - and therefore, even if shod, it won't whack itself or over-reach.

Much horse paraphenalia is a way of parting you from your money.

Go on be brave - go barefoot - in fact - go the whole way and become a metal free zone. Then you can find other uses for all that stuff you think is so vital - my dogs love sleeping on the horse rugs. :)
Reply:I always wear my professional choice boots (front and back) with bell boots. I dint care what I'm doing, horses are very unpredictable and always seem to get hurt doing the safest things.lol. Not only that but my horse always seems that's my horses are more clumsy then everyone Else's and seem to clip and trip on everything possible even if its just air.Not only that but you just never know what someones Else's horse is going to do or spook at and step on your leg. The only complain I have about boots are is hearing my dad complain when I take them out the washing machine but I would much rather that then caring for a hurt leg or having to stop riding because of a sprain ankle. Well yea that's what I think about boots they are total life savers!!!
Reply:I have a barrel horse, and used to use Professional's Choice splint boots, but he has just recovored (back to normal workouts for about three months) from a bad tendon injury. He was running poles at a show and hit his leg with his hind leg. He was wearing PC splint boots and the vet said they didn't help him at all.

I have still been using them (because bad boots are better then none) until I could afford new, better ones.

I recently ordered Classic Equine's Legacy boots (What my vet reccomended) and they are so much better! You can tell by looking at them.

Now I won't ride without them. I even bought my Western Pleasure horse a pair, I didn't usually use boots on him because they aren't allowed in a show, but I do know.

=]
Reply:i usaly ride with open front boots on my horses front legs and polos on her back legs and i use my bell boots when i jump. Sometimes when im only doing flat work or going on a trail i would use polos. And if you ride in the winter in the snow u should use polos to their legs more stablization.I usally use my boots becasue my horse hits on her front legs. It rele Depends what the horse is doing Hope it helps

Which of the following equipment must the horse rider wear while mounting a horse???
Your question ought to be "should" the rider wear because none of those are necessary for mounting or riding. They are just very important and good common sense.

Anyhow they ought to have their helmet and boots on.
Reply:Of course its helmut......that is a requirement in most places where you ride.

Ok here is a step by step guide of resetting the bios. Note this is what i do at the computer repair shop i work in so if you do not feel comfortable opening your pc then call in a tec these are just for guide lines if you do decide to do it.

Step one: Ground yourself by touching a radiator or using a anti static strap and open the pc casing.

Step two: Locate the battery it is usually round and flat.

Step three: Locate the pins to reset the bios it is three pins with a jumper on two of them. Sort of looks like this [..].

Step four: Remove the jumper and place on the other 2 pins so it looks like .[..] Count ten seconds then move back again.

This effectivly shorts the battery thus loosing the data (passwords etc) from the bios memory.

Close the case and plug everything back in.

et voilla you now have a password free bios.

Rezz

ps. SMALL DISCLAIMER

Under no circumstances am i responsible for any damage to your pc or yourself due to misread instructions. These instructions are to be used as a guide only.
Reply:Thats not a problem dude hope i helped Report It

Reply:If you are talking of the password I am thinking of you may want to try reseting your CMOS / BIOS.
Reply:I have just had this problem with my gransons pc.

Have you tried just bypassing it just click the cross on the top right hand corner.

If you can get into safe mode you can probably cancel the password and user name from there

Otherwise you may have to format and start again
Reply:Yes, if you hire a Microsoft Certified Engineer, they can fix it. You'll have to prove you bought the pc. Or you can phone the company you bought it from, again you'll have to prove its you so have all your details ready.
Reply:You may like to try following the instructions contained in this link (starts about one third of the way down the page)

What is the best package to ride for the park?

Tearing it up in the terrian park. What is the best package to ride?

I.E. Snowboard, boots, bindings.

What is the best package to ride for the park?
I've really been diggin Santa Cruz boards for park riding. Their twin tips use "Biometric Sidecut" and this makes a huge difference. Think about your turns, toe turns are always stronger and tighter than heelside turns, right? Santa Cruz has helped deal with this by designing their twins with a deeper heelside cut which strengthens and tightens your heelside turns for you. And the comply constuction is basically shock absorbers for your board which will reduce hang ups on the rails. Not the cheapest boards on the market but well worth the coin. I really like the Seth Huot.

Keep in mind that no board is really made to handle rails forever. If you jib a lot you WILL break your board, it's only a matter of time. So if rails are your thing you may want to think of a cheaper board that won't hurt as much to replace when you blow it up. The Burton Dominant is great for that.

As far as bindings are concerned, I think that Burton makes the best bindings hands down. Cartels and Mission are great bindings for park riding. Both are similar with the Cartels being a touch stiffer for better response.

Boots are a personal preference. Again, I like Burton but that doesn't mean they will work for you. I would go to a good shop and try on as many pair as you can. For park riding you would probably want a medium flexing boot that way you get the support and flexability you need. Keep in mind that if a boot fits perfectly in the shop then IT IS TOO BIG! A boot should fit very tight in the shop as it will stretch a bit after it is worn. I always buy my boots at least a half size too small but some boots are known to stretch even more than that. Also, if you get a lot of days on the hill (60+) you are going to work your boots harder than most. Other boot companies that I've liked in the past are Northwave, Solomon and K2.
Reply:Go to a good store and ask for help!!!

How do i stop my big brother from controlling my life?

I dont feel that i can do anything with out my brother checking up on me (i am 13 and my brother is 25) even silly things like making sure i have eaten when i am at school ( boarding school) he will ring me i the evening to make sure that i have eaten proparley (i went through a period of not eating much and lost a lot of weight, but it was a year ago,) i normally ignore his phone calls and don't pick them up which makes him really angry, which then makes me get into trouble. But i just feel that he doesn't need to control my whole life i need to make mistaks on my own and sort them out rather than him protecting me from everything. He also thinks i am imcapable of doing anything for my self like at the moment he is checking my trunk to go back to school and making sure that i have all the right uniform and other things like my riding hat, body protecter, boots, chaps but i have already chrecked it alll and i have everything, why won't he just take my word for it?

How do i stop my big brother from controlling my life?
first, you just have tell him that you are starting to annoy me and you should give me more privacy.

If that does not work you just have to be rude.

leave me alone and stop controling my life and get your own.

Put curse words in there, but I am not because I do not want to be reported.
Reply:I think you need to sit your brother down and tell him how you feel. Tell him you know he is only thinking off you but he needs to back off a bit. Tell him you made a mistake last year and you paid for it, but, you don't want him phoning you every night to make sure you have eaten. Make him listen to you and make sure at the end of it he understands how you feel. Good Luck.
Reply:Hai

First you understand your brouthers thoughts possitively.. dont hate his activity. you love him. you can change his commanding and demanding nature with your love and soft nature and patience only. This not gives immediate result. But gives 100% possitive result in some more days/years may be.

Every day you pray God to fill his full of love in your broughters hart. God can do. May be there is a bad story behind of each hated person. You must understand his stitution. then act positively. dont irritate.

With best wishes.

Reply:He only cares about you. You should feel lucky to have such a caring older brother. Some people have siblings that beat them up and do bad things. Your brother sounds really great

just have a talk with him.
Reply:Punch him
Reply:Can you appeal to your parents? Where are they in all of this? Your brother should be living his own life at this point and NOT worrying about yours. At 25, I would hope he has a life because he sounds a little weird.

Reply:Oh hun. He obviously, in his own warped BB way just loves you beyond words.

BB's are so freakin'....UGH!! Aren't they?

If you feel like you can speak to him, then do. If you can't then simply distance yourself emotionally from him. Don't make him frustrated by simply being a b***h, (I tried that with my brother and it made him even more angry!) Just be emotionally... monotone...do you know what I mean?

He is obviously fiercely protective of you, maybe mum and dad have put the hard word on him to do this?

Try and see it a little from his perspective, I know that you are growing into an independant woman, but to him, you are still his little, tiny baby sister. You always will be. There will come a time when he will realise, on his own that you just arn't that little girl anymore, he also must realise that he is pushing you further and further away by holding you so close.

Us little sisters are so lucky to have those big, ugly buttheads we call brothers. My brother's still a complete butthead. Wouldn't have him any other way though. I hope you know this someday.

Best of luck with him ;)

hes your big brother and he cares for you a lot thats how most brothers are to their little sisters not much you can really do about it
Reply:Tell him he should trust you on some things...at least the fact that you can pack your own trunk. Even if you forgot something...it won't be the end of the world.

Tell him you love his concern...but sometimes he smothers you. Ask him why he feels he need to check every little thing? Tell him how you really feel.
Reply:your brother loves you very much and wants you tobe perfect and safe.you are lucky your brother is mike that because nowadays brothers are jerks.
Reply:because he loves you so very much. maybe you should sit down with him and tell him what you wrote here. Still the truth is, that he is 25 and your 13 and even though you don't realize, he's seen more of life than you, and you could probably benefit from his advice %26amp; his friendship
Reply:OMG i would have loved a big brother to look after me like that - he cares and he loves you !!!!

You are only 13 - yes you have to make your own mistakes - but there is plenty of time to do that - when you are older.

You could talk to him and explain how you are feeling - he probably feels he has a responsibility to look after you as your parents are away.

Maybe you could try saying thank you to him now and again.
Reply:He is just really worried about you. You should be happy I have an older brother that hates me. I starved myself for almost 2 months and he didnt even say anything he doesnt worry about me at all so just be happy you have a brother that just wants the best for you
Reply:Sounds like you have a great brother to me. My brother wouldn't even buy me a Birthday/Christmas present unless my mum bought it and wrote his name on the card!! He's just being over protective coz he loves you. Don't look at it as being anything else. He's not trying to annoy you or anything. Tell him to scale it down a bit, and tell him not to worry about you so much, if you need him you'll call, and promise him. Then call him to ask his advice on something, show him you will do it like you said. Show him he can trust you. And if he starts being like that again, simply tell him that he's doing it again. Maybe talk to your parents and get them to tell him not to call so often. It's hard to give advice about something you haven't had problems with 1st hand. One day you'll be all grown up and he'll have even more to worry about!! HA HA HA!!

What is something funny or interesting...?

that happened when you were dressed in your riding cloths (breeches, tall boots, chaps, crop, spurs etc...) and went somewhere like the store. What types of reactions did people give you or say to you?

What is something funny or interesting...?
Haha, actually it's not uncommon to see people in their show-clothes in my town. Although it's not uncommon for cowboys to ride horseback through the streets or see horses tied outside of the bars either...

There is a guy in town that you can see bathing his saddle-trained Longhorn steer in the car wash every now and then.
Reply:i ride english so i am always in my paddock boots, half chaps, schooling tights, or breeches haha people look at me, guys stare at my butt haha , girls look grossed out because of my dirty shoes lol and my oh so un stylish pants

i go to price choppper, walmart, the bank, everywhere! i have yet to go to the mall haha

oh and little kids always ask what kind of shoes i'm wearing

not to much drama with me but ya people just look but then carry on doing whatever

haha i always get excited when i see cowboy boots, tall boots, or paddock boots on another person in the same store

i live in a small town and NO ONE rides english!! so it's rare to see someone else in breeches and boots
Reply:I was in all my clothes except a boots. I had just put my tennis shoes on and people seemed to think my boot socks were hilarious. I still have no idea why. They were just simple stripes. But people would walk by and say "nice socks" or "what's with the fashion statement?" I had a friend that went in with her knee high leather, skin tight boots, her warmest jacket, also leather, and her crop stuck in her back pocket. Some inappropriate comments were made that time. :)
Reply:i live in australia on the gold coast.

I used to go on long trail rides and we would pass the local store. Which was on a main road as we normally have to ride along the busy streets of the suburbs to get to a trial. I would get my friend to hold our horses outside while i went in and got ice creams for us all. We would sit there holding one for us and other for our horse to eat, They loved it. we would get the weirdest stares from people but most people would come up and pat our horses. It wasnt very common to see a horses at the local shops eating icecream haha.

I have so many funny stories bout stuff like that but i wont take up all the room.
Reply:I ride western so I dress up in the cowboy hat with cowboy boots,etc..anyways one day i went to walmart to get dog food or something and a group of "preppy" girls walked right by me and after they got about 15 feet away they started making fun of me by saying "yee-haw" and "save a whore ride a donkey" and they called me everything but a human!! I was carrying a 50lb bag of dog food on my shoulder so they must have been jealous or something that I must have been stronger than them or something. But to be truthful...anyone who owns horses knows how heavy feed bags are,so we are use to carying the weight.Anyways I walked at a fast-pace straight toward them...then to make them more"afraid" of me...I dropped the entire bag of dog food on purpose and it made a loud noise that echoed through the whole store. They dropped whatever they had picked up in the store and went running out of walmart.I went back to get the dog food, but I bet now those girls wont pick on cowgirls like us because they know our temper!!!
Reply:Okay, I live in Maine and ride in a town next to mine. the next town over is the city Portland... I had changed out of my jod boots into Uggs, so looked kinda normal. anyway, my mom brought me into portland to drop something off at the Boys and Girls Club, which is across from Portland High School. I walked out in front to go inside, and there was a group of HS students outside (And they are the "inner city" stereotype kids)... They all started laughing and whistling and stuff.... obviously they have never seen a horseback rider. Oh and after that we went to Blockbuster... definately got some stares.
Reply:People tend to avoid me if I go to the shops on the way home from the stables, covered in hair and mud, and probably smelling very unpleasant...

When I was nearly 15, approaching my mother's birthday, all she wanted in the world for her birthday was a decent quality schooling whip. So one day after school, I went to the saddlers' in town - and didn't think anything of it really, because everyone in the shop knew my family and popping into the shop on my way home didn't seem like too big a deal... until it came to waiting at the bus stop for 20 minutes, dressed in a posh school uniform and carrying a 30inch whip and a hockey stick! I got some seriously weird glances for that...
Reply:I'd just finished riding but I was in a hurry so I nipped down to Asda without bothering to get changed, I was in my black jodhpurs, half chaps, boots and spurs and wearing a reflective bodywarmer. People scattered, it was awesome ( lol) they couldn't get out of my way fast enough it was really funny.
Reply:i do english in an area that is mostly western. it is pretty uncommon to see someone dressed for either style though.

when i walk into the grocery store in my tall boots and breeches (sweating like crazy with my hair sticking in all directions) people just stare at me. its pretty funny. i went into the grocery store in my riding clothes today to get a drink and so many people give you the "umm okay?" look! one time i went in and bought an abnormally large bag of carrots in my riding clothes and the lady said "sooo...is this for your horse?" i think she could smell the manure too because she made a disgusted face.

EDIT- to Kk Horse Crazy....i love wawas!!! haha where i used to live we had them everywhere! they got the best food!
Reply:I was in my muddy and hairy(Gotta love sheding season.) breeches, boots, halfchaps, and shirt when I walked into Starbucks. I got all these looks from people, you would have thought that I was in the middle of New York City. The person at the counter asked if I was a horseback rider and where I rode, it was kinda obvious but I just said yes and told her then ordered.
Reply:i almost went to church in my riding clothes but my parents wouldn't let me... i did go grocery shopping in them once. AND i had just been riding so i smelled like a horse too! i have also changed into them many times at school for my lessons after school and gotten the sarcastic "nice outfit" from many a class mate
Reply:These are great answers! And a great read.

Once my daughter exited a show ring with full English gear on her TB after a hunter class and got flack from some guys standing there saying she couldn't ride a reining horse.

They stood on the rail later when she switched gear, clothes, and horses and took first in reining. As she exited, she smiled sweetly and said, "And you said I couldn't ride a reining horse!" There was nothing but stunned silence.

So maybe someone learned not to judge a rider or their skills by their clothes!
Reply:I went to Wawa which is a like a subway store and i saw a guy in cowboy boots and spurs and i was in my tall boots and he was like " nice boots you got"

another time I wore my show cloths to apple bees (restaurant) and I was with a bunch of people after the last show of the season so we were all dressed up and the waiter actually started talking to us bout horses turned out he used to ride
Reply:haha thats a good question. well not many people around here ride so people dont really know much about horses or even what we wear while riding. after a lesson the other day i stopped at subway to get some dinner and my sister works there so everyone knows me and one person was like "what the heck are you wearing?" and another said "are those hooker boots?" and ya it was pretty funny.
Reply:I once rode my daughter's champion cutting horse in Texas while wearing my endurance riding tights, Arabian logoed T-shirt, Ariat Terrains, and riding helmet. There were classic Texas cowboys all standing around the fence watching and waiting for me to fall on my a--. They'd never seen an endurance rider before and my clothes caused quite a stir. I loved it.

PS: I didn't fall off during the cutting.

Does anyone know how good ride snowboard is?

For christmas i got a snowboard called the Ride cue. For my bindings I got ride and for my boots i got burton tribures.

Can anyone tell me how good my equipment is?

Does anyone know how good ride snowboard is?
I have ridden ride boards for about ten years and love ride, I have it in my top brands for snowsticks. You have a great setup my friend, great christmas present, the only thing I would change is the boots if you desire but that is a personal opinion, I prefer DC and Thirty-Two's. Have fun on your new shredder :)
Reply:same as the 1st dude....if your a beginner-intermediate rider...then Ride is really good.

they are all good

Is it gay to horseride?

Hi. I am in my late teens. I want to take up horse riding as it seems like a relaxing thing to do...I was just wondering though if people thought it was a gay thing to do? I mean, you only really ever see girls horseriding and any guys I have seen, have always grown up with horses(their parents owning stables)...Also, what do I need to have when starting riding? What are aigle boots like?

Is it gay to horseride?
It's not gay. I started riding in college and I know a few boys who started riding then too. In the high level showing, there's actually a lot of men riders. It's really not gay... there will always be some football jocks who make fun of you, but that's only because they're stupid and don't understand it, but it's really not gay. Actually, it'll probably be a really good way to meet girls!

to start riding, you should have long pants and hard sole shoes (like boots, but not really wide like hiking boots). Helmets are usually provided, but you can get your own if you want.

I highly recommend riding... I love it.
Reply:NO horse riding is not gay

i am 14 and nobody comments that it is gay they all say thats cool
Reply:Well, Its not really gay to ride. Many people think that in general, English is more of a girly sport and Western is more of a manly sport. You may be made fun of, but if you keep your head on straight, then you won't really be offended. You just have to choose your discipline wisely. Trust me, there is only one guy that rides in the local shows, and he could get ANY girl he wanted that rides at that show.

So if i were you I would try out Western before English
Reply:WhAt are you you drippling on about, this country was built on the back of a horse, gays dont want to build something ,they justr want to **** something!
Reply:gay! i dont think so , i think that's sexy and very macho!!
Reply:horseriding is NOT gay. i just got my first horse at 16. plenty of people start in their late teens. you should look into roping or western pleasure. when you start riding, you should get lessons so you know how to control the horse. buy some nice boots with a heel (ariots are great). a saddle, pad, and head stall of course. you can buy used stuff at tack stores or feed stores. i've never heard of aigle boots...can't help you there.
Reply:Its an amazing sport i'd deff recommend taking it up.... not only will you get all the ladies attention... you'll love it... aigle boots are good but ariats are the best... to start riding you need long pants (jeans), a helmet and boots... the stable you ride out will provide the rest... deff take up riding we need more men interested in horses... best wishes :)
Reply:HELL YEAH...
Reply:Take one look at a rodeo and you will quickly see that horseriding is not gay. Those guys usually have wives. To start riding look for a riding center and call for classes. Or if you know someones that owns them, just ask if you can ride.
Reply:of course not! i have been riding since i was 8 and i have known and seen a lot of guys ride. it does take alot of practice and hard work. its not just sitting on a horse like most ppl think! for now, u shold just have boots w/ a heel (Ariats r my fave) and a helmet. if u get ur own horse u will need to get a saddle, halter, bridle w/ bit and reins, saddle pad, feed, grooming equip. etc. u should also start taking lessons to get the feel of riding and learn the basics and to decide if u like it well enough to stick w/ it b4 u buy ur own horse or whatever. don't worry ,there are a ton of guy riders!
Reply:Heck No it is not Gay to ride horses! It is a great way to spend a day and do not let others tell you any different! Grown men ride all the time and they are married for the most part. Enjoy whatever you want to do in life!!!
Reply:omg you should not think that jocks may think that but there stupid and don't know anything and i really like a guy that rides it shows that he doesn't care what other people think and your risking your life out there so it's kind of like football olmost and you'll make really good friend. some of the best horse back riders are guys and those cowboys yehaw there hotties!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Take up barrel riding.
Reply:Hey oh my gosh no, riding horses is not gay! I have several guy friends that ride horses actually, and let me tell ya...they're certainly not gay! lol I grew up riding horses and it's wonderful, I love it. And even if some people do think riding is gay, it shouldn't matter, you do whatever you aspire to do. There are several different disciplines in riding. The two main ones are English and Western. I rode western when i was younger (its a good place to start) and then took up huntseat (type of english) when i was about 11. I did dressage which is where you ride around an arena making your horse do fancy moves. I also did stadium jumping where you ride around an arena jumping fences (its quite thrilling!) you can also do the same thing in open fields, where it is called cross country. You could do any of these or do western and try barrel racing, or just riding for pleasure. You should contact a local stable if you are seriously interested to ask them any questions!

I wear a size 14 boot and currently ride a nitro wide team series. is there a better board out there for me?

You didn't say if you ride freestyle or freeride, but I really like Ride Snowboards and the Fleetwood for freeride - it is a great board and you would be able to improve on it for years.

Good Luck

What should I do? Roxy vs. Burton; step in vs strap in.?

My Daughter is 10 and wants her first board. It has been suggested that I get an inexpensive board and step in bindings/ boots so when she falls she will come out of the bindings instead of staying in and injuring her knees and hips. I found a Roxy board and Ride Orion SI boots/bindings for less than $150. I found a Burton 126 cm board for $95 but was told she needs a bigger board. She is 4 ft 6 in and weighs 65 lbs. Help! Confused Mom!!!!

What should I do? Roxy vs. Burton; step in vs strap in.?
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!!!

First off, there are no snowboard bindings that release. Knee and hip injuries are not very common in snowboarding especially for a beginner. This doesn't mean that it doesn't happen but it is very rare and usually more of an issue for advanced boarders who are riding expert terrain and jumping. Keep in mind that the way you fall on a board is much different than with skis. On skis, if one ski twists and does not release you get leg and knee injuries. On a snowboard, since both legs are attached to the same board when it twists in a fall, your whole body will twist with it. By far, the biggest injury concern for a beginning snowboarder are broken wrists. Invest in a good set of wrist guards and lessons for your daughter and you should be all good.

I think I replied to a few of your other questions and would like to reiterate that the Orion and Roxy setup is not bad....it just isn't that good. For $150 it's a steal and your daughter should have a great time with it. As she gets better and more intune with what she needs she can upgrade as necessary. Keep in mind that replacing the boots for the Orion setup will be very difficult so buying this system now may make it difficult to upgrade later. A 126 cm Burton board (Like the Chopper or the Chicklet) has a suggested weight range of 55-100 lbs. So she's right there in the middle and that would work but she'll grow out of it very quickly. If she's ridden before and says she needs a bigger board then she probably does. Something in the low 140 cm lengths would be great (the Feelgood 144 ranges from 70-110 as does the Lux 143). I'm really not familar with the specifics of the Roxy boards but it's a safe bet that similar lengths are good for the same weight ranges. Here are a couple of links to questions about what to look for when buying a snowboard:

Also the Burton website is a good resource, even if you don't intend to buy a Burton.

Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions.

EDIT:

Ugh! No offense to torrado_fan4evr but you must keep in mind that a snowboard has absolutely no idea how tall its rider is. There are so many formulas for how long your board should be; To your chin if you're a beginner, To your nose for park riding, Above your eyes for big mountain. They are all wrong. If you are very tall, yet only weigh 120 lbs, you don't want a board that reaches your eyes and if you are short but weigh 200 lbs you would be miserable on a board that came just under your chin.

Remember, YOUR HEIGHT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. It is your weight, your ability level, the kind of riding you do and personnal preference. Keep in mind that kids are going to grow and you don't want to replace expensive equipment every season. A smaller board is easier to learn on but the question is; How long is your daughter going to be a beginner? Don't buy a board for learning unless you plan to upgrade as soon as you aren't a beginner, that's what renting is for. Buy a board that you can learn on but will carry you to a more advanced level.

And torrado_fan4evr is correct. Burton equipment is less compatible than other board companies. It uses a different binding mount system then other companies. There are adaptors that work great but if you go with Burton (and non Burton bindings) be sure to check with your shop before buying to be sure of compatability.
Reply:You usually want a board that fits under your chin when you are standing straight. Shorter boards are easier to learn on. I'm 5'3" and I learned on a 138 cm. Stay away from Burton unless you are going to buy everything in Burton. They purposely make their stuff non compatible with other companies.(I've made that mistake once before). As for binding types, it is personal preference. I've been boarding for 15 years and refuse to try step ins. I'm a crusty old lady set in my ways I guess. Try renting before you buy if you can. That way you'll have a better idea of what she feels comfortable with. Most stores that sell the stuff will let you demo.
Reply:There are no step ins that release. For a beginner it's probably best to go with step ins or click ins as i call them because it will be a a lot easier to get them on and off when your first getting the hang of everything. Once you get more experienced and know what your doing, strap ins will be way better. Since your daughter is still growing, you don't want to get her a really expensive board that she'll just grow out of. I would sugest you get something that isn't too expensive but is safe and good quality. Roxy is a good brand and they make boards especialy for girls. Burton is good too but i would sugest you go with Roxy for your daughter. The other thing too is what if your daughter doesn't end up liking snowboarding? And you've just got her all this equipment. I would sugest that you rent the equipment on her first try. If she likes it than go buy a board etc. I don't know where you live, so i don't know what stores you have, but if you go to a sporting goods store or a store that sells snowboards you can ask them all your questions and they can help you find the right board for your daughter. Good luck!
Reply:NEVER GET A BOARD THAT YOU CAN FALL OUT OF WAY TOO DANGEROUS. LOOK FOR FLOW BINDINGS, THEY HAVE A THING WHERE YOU STEP IN THROUGH THE BACK AND PULL THE BACK UP AND HIT A THINGY ON THE BACK AND YOUR IN! YOU DONT FALL OUT THAT EASY. YOU DONT WANT ONES THAT COME OFF YOUR FEET BECAUSE THEN YOU HAVE TO EITHER CHASE YOUR BOARD DOWN THE MOUNTAIN, OR RUN BACK UP TO GET IT AND IT HURT WAY WORSE WHEN YOU FALL. FOR HE BOARD YOU WANT NOT A WALL MART BOARD BUT SOME THING THAT GOSE UP TO THE TOP OF HER HEAD, AND FLEX'S (TRUST ME SHE WILL LOVE IT).

WELL I HOPE I HELPED.

-SOMEONE
Reply:well i would go with strap in bindings. plus no bindings releas when u fall. burton is a really good brand name board but i wouldnt spend that much money because she is still growing. in 2 years or lesit will be to small. so for a beginer probably the roxy. oh yeah i forgot to tell u that step in bindings r a pain in the butt. they get clogged with snow all the time. snowboarding is the best!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I think that step-in binding were a fad and hass passed. They seem to easy to step into, but snow can get packed in them so much that you have to stop and dig it out. A lot of the pros have straps, personally I think it is because you can tighten it so that it is more stable and when you lean your board goes with you. With the step-ins you have too much wiggle room that makes your board not as responsive to your body movements. Just what I have hear. I like straps and always have. I started when I was 14 and a cheaper board worked just fine for me. I used it for two years and got a nicer one once I learned. Make sure she likes it before you invest all this money in something she might not like just so that she can look good on her first run. Renting is a good idea. She should keep in mind that she will be falling a lot, but tell her to stick with it, because once you get it... it's a blast!
Reply:k first there is no bindings that will just release, knee injuries are very common in snowboarding, Ive been boarding for about 4 years and i have had lots of knee injuries, but there not always major, falling is a part of snowboarding, once she gets better she will not fall as much, but as i said, everyone falls, some fall on easier stuff than others, like jumping and expert terrain, the best could still wipe out, i would personally go with the Burton snowboard, there the best money can buy and they are really dependable, and for the bindings i would go with strap in, because when snow and ice get into the step ins, they are really hard to get into and really hard to get the ice and snow out of, Ive been boarding for 4 years, like i said earlier, and Ive always went with the strap in, and plus, with the strap in, if her friends r in a hurry, the strap in takes like 1 minute and your good to go
