Saddle Help?

I gave a light colored english saddle. I wore my field boots when i rode in it, and now there are big black marks on both sides of my saddle. My saddle is really expensive. Does anyone know how to get the black marks off, or at least some of it. Are there any particular products? Please help!!!

saddle soap will help and possibly get it all or you can go to the automotive section and get products for leather seats and use it. If worse comes to worse you can go to a tack store and tell them they have products that cost a tad more but work. Also a damp washclothe and rub in a circular motion can help. My daughter did this with her saddle and after she had to spend two days getting it clean she always remembers to wear the right boots now.

Reply:Do NOT use fingernail polish remover. It will dry out the saddle and eventually cause it to crack, especially if you have to clean these black marks off numerous times.





Like everyone else has said, use saddle soap and a soft cloth and just work on those scuff marks. Saddle soap is made for the expensive leather made in saddles and is very mild, yet it will do the trick. Good luck!

Reply:Saddle soap is very mild. It is a bit hard to get out of the tooling (designs) and stitching on a western saddle but an English one should be easy to remove it from if you avoid any stitched areas.
Reply:Try some saddle soap available at a saddlery shop or feed store might have it as well.

DO NOT USE FINGERNAIL POLISH REMOVER IF THE SADDLE IS ALOT OF MONEY.
