Is it easier??

I found it easier to ride in breeches than jeans. Do you think it would make it more comfortable/easier to be riding in tall boots?

(I ride English)

Is it easier??
yup. it helps a lot with your form and grip, plus you will look great :-) try dublin zip backs. i have used tall boots in lessons for about 3 years now. half chaps are okay but i like boots better.
Reply:Im not sure. I am too short to ride in tall summer boots or tall winter boots (well with out paying $500 to get them custom made as I am still growing). I even had to get my half chaps taken up a bit! lol. Any way... (sorry kinda went off topic) I hear people say that they like short boots and half chaps because they give you more flexability, they dont need to be broken in and they are more practical for "around the farm" stuff. Tall boots are good for show, but *I think* half chaps would be more comfortable and practical for just lessons. But I still say try them, go to the tack shop try a pair on and flex your heel down like it was in a stirrup, see what it feels like. Its all up to you and keep in mind it takes a long time and its a little bit painful to break them in at first, so don't buy them then go straight to your lesson or you will have blisters for days!

Good luck!
Reply:i sometimes ride english and i ride in joddies with my short boots but then i add half chaps just for when i'm working my horse hard because otherwise joddies slide up and i don't wear breeches thoe a lot of people seem to but they deffinatly more comfortable then jeans lol but yer short boots all the way cause they can be changes with chaps
Reply:Definitely. I find that I am able to post better and jump better when wearing boots. I also use a saddle where, if you don't wear boots, you get this scab from being rubbed....I really need my own saddle :( ....So yes, they do make it more comfortable once you get used them
Reply:No way, especially if you have traditional tall boots! Your legs will get rubs after awhile, plus they get hot too.

You could try synthetic boots, but honestly I doubt it's worth the money you have to pay for the boots just to school in them.
Reply:I dont know.

But i found it easier to ride in short boots. I kinda need to feel the horse beneathe me and the taller boots just restric that

Chaps are better

they also keep ur breechers or jodphurs clean.
Reply:instead of boots. get cheppets. or half chaps as i think most people call them. they are cheaper than tall boots and do the same thing. they just go over your normal riding boots.
Reply:personally i prefer short boots and chaps because you have more flexibility in the lower leg
Reply:i dont know i ride in jeans
Reply:ya probably
