I was looking on the Cabela's website, because there's one opening in a couple weeks up here in maine, and noticed that they carry some riding boots. they have really good prices on the Ariat Fat baby's, and I was thinking of getting some if they actually carry them in the store (they were online). Would they be appropriate for English riding lessons??? I don't show, but I ride once a week.... I just don't want to look like an idiot at lessons lol. But i need more personality and color to my lesson ensemble, because everything i have now is black, so i look like an emo.... or would i be wasting my money?
Appropriate footwear?
The Ariat boots that you're looking at are super comfy (I've heard) but they may not be suitable for english riding lessons. The biggest reason is that they probably won't fit in your stirrups, because english stirrups are kind of narrow.
Hope I helped! :)
Reply:The Fat Baby's, while cute, are dangerous to ride in. They have such a thick sole that in a wreck you could easily get hung up in the stirrup. If you're looking for a more stylish boot I would recommend the brand "Acme" or even just a different type of Ariat (have an awesome pair of stingrays). Hope this helps!
Reply:Hopefully people are not shallow enough to make fun of your footwear at a riding lesson. I would say any boot that is comfortable and safe would be fine. If you were showing it would be a different story, because you are required to wear specifics. I wouldn't spend a ton of money on something I wouldn't be using often.
PS, I suggest Drysdales.com
Reply:ummm... what's wrong with looking like an emo?
and i don't think you would look very good in an english saddle with western-looking boots on... whether you're showing or not... i'm sure you can find pink half-chaps and a cool crop at your local tack store... they also make different color jods

cool crops
Reply:I really doubt they would look good or fit in the stirrups. They might also rub as there is much more leg contact involved in English than western and the boots are designed accordingly. Try some run colored riding tights (jods) instead, or a cute top, or a fun half-chap.
Also those boots only come in tiny sizes. Are you really that little? How old are you?
Reply:Lol, nothing wrong with emos - they seem to have good taste.
I think they would cause problems in English riding, I know they wouldn't be allowed here.
Check it out with your instructor before buying.
Reply:no offense, but i don't think they would fit in the stirrups.
Reply:well... it probably doesnt matter what boots you have as long as it has a heel
