Okay, so I was looking in the Dover catelog, and just had a couple questions. First: what are "self patches" on riding tights. Second: Are the tall boots made of rubber worth getting, or are they junk? This is them: http://www.doversaddlery.com/continental...
Horse Catalog Questions?
"Self patches" mean that the knee patches are made of the same material as the tights/breeches.
The rubber boots are good for barn chores, schooling, etc., but are not suitable for showing. They are unfitted and look messy. Not good when you're going for the neat appearance that all judges like!
Reply:The only thing self patches could be are the patches that go on your inner leg to prevent rubbing.
I don't really recommend rubber tall boots for riding. There is a good brand Saxon that does an Equileather Tall riding boot. Rubber boots do not give you the support that is needed and can be bulky. They are good to walk around the barn on a rainy day, that's about it.
Reply:Self patches just means that the material is the same as the breech itself.
Rubber boots like that are good for mucking around the barn and schooling in. Not for show. As well the rubber boots aren't that great to ride in at all. It is much more uncomfortable and harder to keep your heel down. Try a nice pair of paddock boots and half chaps, they are comfy! lol.
Reply:I am not sure what self patches are...but rubber riding boots? hmmm...personally I wouldn't get them. To me they kinda look...tacky? Just an opinion, I would get half chaps. They are actually cheaper, look better, and (if you ever do get to show) as long as they match your paddock boots they look plenty good for schooling shows :)
Good Luck...and half chaps would be a heck of alot easier to put on to, just zip 'em up xD
