I have been working at my horse barn in CT for years and teaching lessons year round as well. We all have tryed everything to keep our feet warm, battery powered heated socks, hand warmers (sometimes work but wont stay still), thermal socks, and even thermal riding boots wich sorta work. We even have once friend who suggested bags over your feet then socks so your socks don't get wet. Doesn't work for the rest of us- so help me and my co-workers find an answer to battle this winter with non-cold feet PLEASE!
I work at a horse barna ll year round, how do i keep my feet warm?
I'm going to watch this questions, because I've had the same problem!!!! I bought silk socks to wear under my thicker wool ones and that helped a little, but the best thing I ever found was to wear boots that did not bind or tie up. They caused the circulation to decrease in my feet. Eventually, I just learned to ignore the cold feet if I was going to enjoy my horse. Course the first trail ride of the winter was always sooooo miserable! Good luck hope you get some good advice.
Reply:Try some Uggs. There really comfortable and warm!
Reply:step in fresh horse poop
Reply:Keep doing what you're doing, but maybe every hour or so take of your shoes and warm up your feet with a blanket, hot water, whatever.
I used to horseback ride and you're right IT GETS C-O-L-D!!!!
Reply:yes, uggs in a horse barn lol. if all that other stuff didn't help, try something that will increase circulation to your feet. i always make a travel mug of peppermint tea when i go play in the snow (disturbingly enough, i'm old enough to vote lol) and my feet and fingers stay nice and toasty for hours. ginger or rosemary tea would probably do the trick too :)
