Where on the leg should the bottom hem of a pair of gauchos come to?

I am a very petite girl (5"0') and so I ordered a pair of petite gauchos from a catalog company. But when I received them and tried them on, I was disappointed to see that they hung all the way down to about mid-thigh. I'm pretty sure that's too low. The way they are right now, they just look like a flared pair of capri pants. I want to have the gauchos shortened to more appropriate length, but I'm not sure where that is. Should gauchos come down past the knee? Just above? Exactly at? I also bought a pair of knee-high riding boots to wear with the gauchos (not that this necessarily makes a difference in where the gauchos should fall), but eventually I'd like to pair the two together. Please, anyone with a good knowledge of ladies fashion, please help me!

My favorite pair of gauchos hit just a couple of inches below my knees, but I have seen some that hit around mid-calf.
Reply:mid-thigh?? that's pretty short!

do you mean mid-calf??
Reply:Right under your Knee.
Reply:Higher mid-calf is about right.

Don't buy any more gaucho's though, they're on the way out.
Reply:for a petite girl
