How many hours should my servants work?

My team of servants currently work 18 hours per day. This involves basic household tasks, as well as any duty I call upon them to carry out, such as cleaning my riding boots or pooping out to buy alcohol.


This leaves them with six hours in the day to themselves, surely this is enough. I do pay them £3 per hour for their services, but expect diligence and effort for their entire 18 hour shift. Am Ibeing reasonable?

Doesn't really matter whether its ethical or not mate, if you can get away with it, you're fine!

18 hours is an acceptable amount of time I believe but £3 per hour ? you are showing the rest of us up! Our servants make £1.20 per hour which I find is most reasonable!

Reply:My dear friend,I am assuming they are illegal immigrants as this is slave labour.How can they rise and perform to the best of their abilities if they are up such long hours.Everyone needs a good break and if you continue to overwork them in this manner you will be the one to suffer as your servicing needs will become harder and harder to satisfy.Allow them some extra playtime and show them some appreciation as I am sure they will rise to your bait and return your favour in more ways than one.

actually i think you're being overly lenient and you should be careful you don't suffer a mutiny or a revolt.





it might be best to offer them the new hours of 24 hours a day and fresh working conditions - with a slight deduction in their hourly rate (down to £2.25) too in order to encourage them further, to put in all the hours necessary in order to ensure they still make the same money as before.





I hope you flog them for any misdemeanours?

I only pay mine £2.50 per hour (and no tea breaks)

Reply:You should pay them less, old chum. they should only be allowed an hour's sleep, so they work most of the time but will not look totally horrible. I think you are being too kind to them.

I'm sure you have the best of intentions for being so munificent, but remember that people of that kind are not able to make good use of money. That's why they are poor in the first place! They will end up wasting their wages on cheap booze or distasteful things, such as those rags they wear all day!
