What are the top brands for street bike accessories?
You should check out http://www.motorcyclegiftshop.com/motorc...

They have info on what you should look for when buying motorcycle gear so it might help you make a more informed decision.

Top brands include Icon, Joe Rocket, Alpinestars, First Gear and Teknic.
Reply:The first answer about brands was GOOD. In San Diego with the hot weather look for "Mesh" jackets that fully armored{padding} plus matching mesh pants + matching mesh gloves + boots. It's always nice to be colored coordinated when on a street bike. Most of the clothing manufacturers have a wide range of choice. You want your husband to look as hot as the bike.
Reply:I have been selling gear for years and I've tried most things.

You can't go wrong with alpinestars beacuse quality, safety and looks are all considered.

I would avoid most things made by ICON. They are interested in looks not quality. I will say I like thier merc Gloves.

As for helmets my top three are Arai, Shoei, and Suomy.

for safety, light weight and quality these can't be matched.

You can get a Suomy discontinued for 50% off and save alot of money. I would not buy anything but one of these three.

For leather jacket I would recommend the Alpinestars Stage jacket. These jackets are very well perferated and breath great. Here it Texas many people wear them year around.

The Spinner is part of the Alpinestars Black label line which means they are less agressive and a little more comfertible off the bike. They come with a removible liner and work well between 50 Degrees and 80 Degrees.

Leather Jackets (Call For Actual Price they are over %15 off) - http://www.cyclemartusa.com/shop/product...

Textile/Mesh Jackets (not as safe as leather and most racers and experienced riders wont touch it for most riding) -

Alpinestars boots and Sidi are the best. I recommend the Alpinestars SMX-R or the SMX-4

Cycle Mart USA is also one of the only shops that exchanges gear free for sizing. We size people daily and we are very good at it. let me know what you are looking for and maybe I could help find you a great deal. Everything in our store starts at 15% off and goes up.

Reply:teknic, alpinestar, shift, joe rocket, sidi.

i would reccomend leather, for warm san diego i would get perforated leather as they vent better. i personally stay away from textile jackets/gloves, they have a tendency to shread on impact.

as for gloves, i prefer gauntlett style(again leather) with hard knuckles, youll shell out for them but they are worth it.

im not impressed with ICON gear, its flashy and stylish but most distributers say that they dont hold up as well as other brands.

as for boots, anything that goes above the ankle and is reinforced. tecnic, sidi, a* all offer a good selection.

if he doesnt want to wear leather pants, some companies offer jeans that have kevlar in them, they will hold up better than regular cotton jeans.

im assuming he already has a helmit? if not the biggest issue is proper fit, take him to a reputable store and talk to a sales person, have him fitted to the right model.
