Are hunter wellies good to ride in??

i go horse riding and i like to wear long riding boots. however i find that the long boots are not comphy to do basic yard tasks such as mucking out.

id like to wear normally wellies but i find them hard to ride in, and was wondering if hunter wellies are any different to normal wellies.

i would be greatfull if someone could tell me if they are suitable for riding ??

thanks to anyone who answers

Are hunter wellies good to ride in??
I live in my hunter wellies and i think they are great for riding in as well as being brilliant yard boots. But mine havent lasted long I have worn them down tones in just 6 months so they arent as hard wearing as other wellies. Just make sure that your stirrups are big enough for them to make sure that thye will slide out of your stirrups in case of an emergency.
Reply:Hunter wellies are brilliant to ride in but they will eventually split along the back of the ankle or across the front of the foot. I usually manage to make a pair last the winter though and I ride every day.

Some folk worry that the rubber will mark the panels of the saddle but I%26#039;ve never had this problem with my (leather) saddle.
Reply:the heel is the important part on whatever you use for riding. it needs to have a 90degree angle so that your foot does not slide through the stirrup and the width not too wide as to wedge in the stirrup.

i prefer to wear short boots with half chaps as you can find a comfortable boot that you can use in the yard and then add the half chaps when riding. half chaps come in many types, sizes and colours and i have found them easier to get a good fit.

good luck
Reply:I thaught they were good to ride in but i have recently found out it wears away your saddle, so maybe not such a good idea
Reply:Dont know much about horseriding but I know that lots of people use them for riding as they have more of a heel than other wellies.

My gf got a pair of pink ones for walking in muddy wet fields and on the beach etc and she LOVES them says they are the most confortable footware she owns and she has got a lot of shoes!!!!!!!!

They are pretty expensive but she says they were worth every penny!

Hope this helps!
