Zippered tall boots?

I%26#039;ve had many pairs of tall boots, field/polo/dressage but I%26#039;ve never had them with a zipper up theback...

Have any of you used them? Do you find they last as long as traditional boots? Do you find the zipper to be an impediment to your riding/application of aids? etc, etc...

I%26#039;ve been thinking about a pair for the sake of convenience and since my current dress boots are about to fall to bits but it would be wonderful to hear from those who have had them and really used them for a good while. Thanks!

Zippered tall boots?
Personally I think zippered tall boots are better for people who don%26#039;t ride in their tall boots everyday. You can%26#039;t see the zipper and it doesn%26#039;t affect the aids HOWEVER. Everyone I have known who has had them has also had them wear out. I have a pair of dress boots minus the zipper that I%26#039;ve had for 6 years and other than a few wrinkles they look fine. The zippered pair of boots I had (same company made them) wore out in 2 years I guess because I use my boots for everyday riding as half chaps just don%26#039;t have the same feel. If you plan to school in them or do alot of walking or ground work in them I wouldn%26#039;t suggest zippered boots. However if you school in half chaps and show in dress boots yeah I would buy the zippered ones just for convenience.
Reply:i have zipper tall boots.. i love them.. its really easy to get them on...
Reply:I bought a pair, imported from France from Cheval du Sport, at Bramham horse trials seven years ago. They are made by Equisport, and come in many combinations of fittings. I have trouble finding %26#039;off the peg%26#039; boots, I have VERY long legs, but this pair are fantastic. The ones I bought are field boots (with a lace on the front), with a zip up the back too. They look great, and they are so comfortable. I%26#039;ve worn them almost every day for riding and competing, and they are only just starting to look their age! The leather is very soft and supple. I do look after them though!

I would never go back to wearing pull on boots after wearing zip ups!
Reply:zippers r soooooooo nice! yea i have had zippered long boots 4 like 2 yrs same pair oviation soooo nice....
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard the zip-up Ariats are great. If those don%26#039;t work for you though, you might try custom-made boots. Vogel, in New York, makes fantastic boots; I%26#039;ve never had a pair but I%26#039;ve wanted some forever. My mom%26#039;s dress boots are Vogels; she%26#039;s had them for twenty years and they%26#039;re still in good order. They are extremely expensive but they%26#039;ll fit you perfectly, and you can specify zippers if you want them. Or you can send a pair of boots you%26#039;ve already got to them, and they%26#039;ll put zippers in for you.
Reply:Well, i have had a few different kind of boots, and i think that the zippered boots do tend to wear out faster, and also the zippers somtimes can break or the zipper comes off...and thats a bummer =[[
Reply:I am sure it all depends on the brand of boot you are buying... though my zipper boots are fantastic. I use them for show and for pleasure. I have Ariat tall boots, they are extremely tough! Though they cost a pretty penny but it is all worth it! They were probably about $500 - $530. But very worth it... I have had them for only 3 years but they still look like I got them yesterday.
Reply:The zippers really do make things a lot easier. They are not noticeable and do not effect your riding at all. I would recommend any tall boots (with or without zippers) made by Ariat.
