Half Chaps or tall boots?

I ride english. Which do you think is better to ride in and why? Half chaps or tall boots?

Half Chaps or tall boots?
I would definatly say half chaps. They give your leg WAY more support in my opinion! I hope I helped!
Reply:Tall boots for competition (they look nice) and half chaps for work at home. I think half chaps (suede ones of course) are wonderful: they allow you to feel the horse better, but the best part I think is that they seem to glue your legs to the sides of the horse. It%26#039;s extremely comfortable.

Of course everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to riding: I think there would be nothing better than to sit in a Bates Innova (*sigh* I can%26#039;t afford one yet...) with the large knee blocs with suede half chaps on and just ride. Imagine that incredible deep feeling, and being glued in... How relaxing *dreamy*.

Of course to some people that position feels far too restrictive/claustrophobic, but I think it is wonderful when you can hardly move: it enables to to focus on your posture, position, balance, hands, and the subtle ques from your leg muscles and seat.

Hope I answered your question adequately ^_^.
Reply:depends on what you are doing and what level you are at but i love my tall boots. they give you better ankle support and are easier to grip with, plus they look better. zip backs make them easy to get on and off too.

i use my leather knee high boots for everything from schooling to showing. when i was jumping small jumps i used half chaps but now that the jumps are getting bigger and my experience is growing, i use knee highs every time i ride ( even western :-] ).
Reply:well it matters what level you are in riding. If you just ride around for fun then id wear half-chaps but if your gonna show then i would wear tall boots. I have a pair of Tall boots that work great for me. Im a jumper so it also helps.
Reply:i love my half-chaps. Give a much better %26quot;feel%26quot; than long boots. You can actually feel the horse - can%26#039;t really do that with long boots.
Reply:I have both. I prefer the tall boots because I like the support it gives my leg. Half chaps are a heck of a lot easier to get on and off though!! :)

If you are going to wear them around the barn and not just for riding, you might want to look into the show grade PVC boots. They are easy to keep clean and you won%26#039;t wreck the leather. I save my leather boots only for shows.
Reply:Tall boots, only because I have weird boney ankles and short boots are really uncomfortable for me.
Reply:well, for everyday or consistent riding i prefer half chaps, they are cheap, you don%26#039;t have to worry about getting them dirty, suede breaks in great, and leather works great too. they are adjustable, and you can wear them over riding breeches or jeans, and with any shoe.

tall boots can be restricting, they are good for showing but not for everday use, they are not at versatile, they are more difficult to clean, and are much more expensive.
Reply:half chaps and paddock boots for everyday and tall boots for showing or schooling off the property
Reply:I%26#039;d rather ride in tall boots, but being a size 11 with small calfs, Boots dont seem to fit me (so annoying!!!) so I have half chaps, I like them a lot, but like tall boots better! I dont really have a why... I just like boots the best...GOOD LUCK! happy trails
